    Gene,

Outstanding job. Unfortunately we have lost much of our history through brothers departed. Again, congratulations on job well done.

    Morning Gene,

I mustered out of Combat Control about 38 years ago but it is as if it were yesterday. The experiences and friendships I made then shape my life still today.

The photographs that I have are of training, group pictures under the wing of a C130 and my Combat Control Wedding. Still married to that same girl, by the way. I have sent all these pictures to the Combat Control Association. Do you want them also? I would like to help in your grand effort but my mission experience is limited to Panama. No combat photos.

Subject: HAHO (High Glide Ratio Parachute) HGRP

Early 80′s ALCENT (Airlift Center) at Pope AFB, NC conducted the first AF test to validate HAHO for CCT. The TL was Wayne Gardner. Bud Gonzales, Rodney Pendegrass,John Bringoff, Billy Howell plus 1 PJ were also part of the team. There may have been others? The test finished with a Night HAHO/EQ with Parapoint into Egypt. Hope this helps

This comment is directed toward the catergory of CCS. The very first CCS Honor Graduate (Sewart AFB, TN) in 1965 was/is Ron Holder. A small piece of history like many that have fallen by the wayside.I’m fairly certain of this fact. Please correct if this is in error.

    Dear Gene,
You have undertaken a huge project and you have done it very well.I learned more about CCT than I ever imagined. Andre was proud to be a part of it.

I have a huge project underway to raise $250K for a war memorial at the Combat Control School. With luck we will be in the running for the Pepsi Refresh Project in May 2010. More in an April 30/May 1 email, IF I AM SUCCESSFUL. I will need your help and all those you can bring on-board to vote.

See the Pepsi Refresh Project website for general details.

I’m afraid I am from the old era and I’m not sure how to post a new blog. I wanted to invite all Combat Controllers to view our ride schedule for the ride for Special Ops Warrior Foundation. I’m recovering from knee surgury, and we plan to leave on August 15 and return on September 15. If any active or retired CCT’rs are in the areas that we will be riding, we would be honored to visit them or have them join us on a portion of our ride. This ride is in honor of all fallen Spec Ops, and what they would provide for their children and the children of their fallen brothers. Love you guys! Does anyone recall callsign “Tollhouse Lima” at Dak To Vietnam in 1967-68? There was an Air Force guy with us on the ground there, and we provided him with artillery fire coordinates which he passed along to the FACs and others.

    Thanks.

      Steve

I was at Dak To a year earlier and do know that the first PCS CCT was in country at that time.

Send me a direct email and I will forward it to the Combat Control Association. Provide details about your inquiry.

      Steve
Tollhouse and Tailpipe are the two (prefix) call signs used by Combat Controllers in Vietnam. Tailpipe is the one most often used there. The suffix Lima is the element identifier. A CCT element was typically a 3 or 4 man operating team, usually geared toward and provisioned for the operation of an Assault Landing Zone.

I was at Dak To from Feb – Sep 1968 and worked second shift as Tollhouse Lima in the Tactical Operations Center.

Great. I was in Viet Nam in 1965, TDY from Tachikawa, Japan. Our sister team – in Naha – worked there as well. We worked the CCT mission from July 65 to December 65 untill the first PCS team arrived.
